CADILLAC SHINES BRIGHT IN 2022 J.D. POWER INITIAL QUALITY STUDY
The latest J.D. Power Initial Quality Study is out and Cadillac did very well among luxury automakers. Not only did the brand have two category winners, but Cadillac also finished 7th overall in the industry for initial quality. Cadillac surpassed many of its direct competitors such as BMW, Lincoln, Acura, Land Rover, Infiniti, and Mercedes-Benz. Cadillac also finished well ahead of Audi and Volvo.
The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study aims to determine which vehicles have the least number of problems over the first 90 days of ownership. In order to rank different brands and vehicles, jdpower spoke with over 80,000 consumers who purchased a vehicle in the last 3 months. They were asked to answer 223 questions pertaining to the quality of their new vehicle.
The study which has been around for over three decades is considered the most important for consumers. It not only provides an overview of initial quality, but it is also telling of a vehicle’s long-term reliability. With just 163 problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac finished well ahead of the industry average of 180 problems per 100 vehicles.
Moreover, the Cadillac Escalade finished first overall ahead of the new Range Rover and the BMW X7 in the large premium SUV segment while the Cadillac XT6 finished ahead of two BMW models in the midsize premium SUV segment.
